Kindly prevent Suicide.

In this article, I will explore the reasons why people have suicidal tendencies and what we can do to get rid of them.

There are many different reasons why people have suicidal tendencies. However, the most common reason is because they are dealing with depression or mental illnesses. They may feel like they cannot control their thoughts, feelings or behaviors and they don't see any way out of their situation.

Another reason is because of traumatic events in their life that made them feel like there is no hope for them anymore. Some people may also want to end their life because they are feeling hopeless about a certain health condition that has no cure (such as cancer).

What can we do to get rid of these suicidal tendencies? There are many things we can do such as getting professional help from a therapist or psychiatrist and talking to family members about our feelings.

Warning Signs:

It is important to recognize the warning signs of suicidal tendency. There are many warning signs, but some of the most common ones are:

  • Talking about suicide or death
  • Feeling hopeless or trapped
  • Withdrawing from friends, family and society
  • Giving away prized possessions
  • Increasing alcohol or drug use
  • Acting recklessly without thinking about consequences

Risk Factors:
The risk factors for suicidal thoughts can be classified into three categories:
  • intrapersonal risk factors
  • interpersonal risk factors
  • environmental and situational risk factors.

Intrapersonal risk factor is a person’s mental and physical health, family history of suicide, and past history of attempted suicide.

Interpersonal risk factor is social support, conflict with friends or family members, and relationship problems. 

Environmental/situational risk factor is economic difficulties, loss of job or home, or other life events such as death in the family.

The factors that affect suicidal thoughts include:
  • genetic predisposition
  • childhood trauma or abuse
  • depression and other mental illness
  • substance abuse
  • social isolation, loneliness, and bullying
